Skunk #1 is one of the most iconic and influential cannabis strains in the history of cultivation. It was developed in the late 1970s by a group of breeders known as the Sacred Seed Co., led by Sam the Skunkman, also known as David Watson, in California. The strain is a hybrid, created by crossbreeding Afghani (indica), Acapulco Gold (sativa), and Colombian Gold (sativa). This genetic mix resulted in a balanced hybrid known for its stability, consistent yields, and potent effects.
Key traits of Skunk #1 include:
Aroma: A signature strong, pungent skunky smell with hints of earthiness and sweetness.
Effects: Known for its uplifting cerebral high combined with a relaxing body effect. It's often used to treat stress, depression, and pain due to its balanced psychoactive properties.
Growth: It has become a staple for breeders and growers due to its resilience, uniformity, and relatively short flowering time (typically around 45-50 days). It thrives both indoors and outdoors.
Skunk #1 has been the foundation for many other famous strains like Super Skunk, Cheese, and Sour Diesel, influencing cannabis breeding globally.

Bubba Kush: Parent of Skunk #1 x Bubba Kush
Reposted from the Space Cake x Bubba Kush blog:
A cornerstone indica with a mysterious past, Bubba Kush is a name that still carries weight in any circle. Created (on accident) by Matt Berger, Bubba Kush could be called "bagseed" from a cutting of Kush (OG) that got stressed and "hermed", pollinating a cut of "Bubba" in the process.
Regarding the cutting of Kush, "Alec Anderson was the grower that first popped the seed. From there, it made its way to Matt "Bubba" Berger in Florida in 1992."
Further explained on ICMAG by user JetLife175, somewhere near Orlando, Florida in 1992, Alec bought an ounce of "superknaught", which happened to have some seeds. Alec popped those seeds, of which one phenotype became known as "Kush".
It should be noted that at the time, "Crippy" was also a term used on the east coast for good flower, which would've included Kush.
Once Matt Berger made his way to Cali in 1996, his cutting became known as OG Kush to differentiate itself among the other Kush phenotypes that started popping up throughout Los Angeles.
As far as "Bubba", "[i]n 1993, [Matt Berger] planted a bag of seeds believed to be Northern Lights. Among these, a standout phenotype led to further cultivation and crossbreeding experiments, eventually contributing to the creation of Bubba Kush."
Skunk #1 x Bubba Kush: a Foundation of Greatness
Obviously, this cross has such historical greatness that it would be a disservice to not buy a pack or two for the seed vault. Filled with potential, powered by tried-and-true DNA, Skunk #1 x Bubba Kush by Shoreline Genetics is truly something to be appreciated by collectors nationwide.
If you're the type of person that values having the best among the rest, I encourage you to reward yourself with a pack of Skunk #1 x Bubba Kush seeds before the world passes you by.
